Planet Bones is the solo recording project of Zürich-based composer, multimedia artist, and researcher Diya Anantharaman. Formerly based in Southern California, Anantharaman’s live performances often feature choral soundscapes constructed from the ground-up with live looping, alongside poetry, field recordings, drone folk, and occasional post-industrial accents. Recent Planet Bones releases draw from a variety of stylistic influences, including baroque vocal arrangements, Indian classical raagas, angular industrial rhythms, ambient pop, musique concrète, and beyond.

Anantharaman is working towards an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Zürich, with a research-oriented focus in psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and the cognition of language, aiming to also bridge linguistic research with performance art and multimedia approaches.

Anantharaman’s literary writing has been featured in ExPat Press, fifth wheel press, and more. Planet Bones has been featured on KVCU Radio 1190, CHAPSTICK MAGAZINE, Radio K, & death of a rabbit magazine
