Dear Faithful Vultures,
There’s a new single coming your way soon, and it’s a sliver of vernal beauty and decay featuring d&b-adjacent catharsis from friend & computer magician microlibrarian (June from Isla Vista band The Radar’s new solo project). The cover art was crafted by my dear friend Saraya (AKA aquila defeated; she makes gorgeous, intricate music).
I adore the ethos of combining art forms that are normally associated with more classical genres (in this song’s case, choral ostinatos) with electronic, noise, and otherwise left-field forms. Some of my favorite artists that do this include Lingua Ignota and Diamanda Galás. I approached this track with a similar ethos—where the original composition was entirely choral and droney (with some big, timpani-esque, minimally building placeholder drums). June brought a relentlessly creative force to the drum programming here, with her aim being to never once repeat herself with the drum phrases. I am so overjoyed to be releasing “Miasma” as the first collaborative Planet Bones offering, and to bring you all things baroque & electronic / beautiful & incurable.
Enjoy soon!
